Wedge Fitting – $150
Bounce and Grind Technology
Edel Golf has designed their wedges to have the proper bounce and sole configuration to match your swing. The role of bounce is to offset a golfers forward shaft lean and the angle of attack at impact to minimize the effects of soil and turf conditions. Having the optimal bounce angle combined with the correct sole width on your wedge will result in less face twisting, more consistent clubhead speeds, increased spin, and consistent control of distances; drastically improving your shortgame. All Edel Wedges are Hand-Ground to specific weight, grind, bounce, sole-width, and optimal trail relief in our workshop in Liberty Hill, TX. Available in lofts 45°- 65°
A C-SHAPED Grind with medium bounce; this grind is optimal for golfers with a shallow to moderate angle of attack with a small divot.
A V-SHAPED Grind with medium-high bounce; this grind is optimal for golfers with a moderate to steep angle of attack with a larger divot.
A CHANEL-SHAPED Grind with dual surfaces and high bounce; this grind is optimal for golfers with a steep angle of attack with a large, deep divot.
*More grinds available through our custom fitting process
Edel wedges are designed to create more consistent shot making by incorporating industry first enhancements to the club face. We have moved and expanded the center of percussion (sweet spot) of our wedges toward the toe in comparison to most traditional clubs, and away from the hosel. Another Edel first; we have extended the groove pattern on the face of the club all the way towards the toe. This allows you to better frame the golf ball at address and allows for more consistent ball to groove contact on open-face shots.
To obtain an ideal center of gravity in our wedges we need to move some weight around. We have shortened the length of the hosel to move that weight towards the toe to obtain a center-of- gravity that is in the true center of the face. This allows for all of the centers to be in the same location, THE SWEET SPOT, for the most solid feeling and best performing wedge available today.
Rounded Leading edge
A slightly rounded leading edge allows the club face to sit close to the ground while maintaining the proper bounce angle. This feature allows opening and closing the clubface for different shots and lies while still keeping the leading edge square to target.
Aggressive heel relief
Removal of excess material from the heel of the club results in a narrower and sharper hosel. This feature allows the clubhead to move through rough and sand without twisting of the face through impact.
We have created the most comprehensive wedge fitting process in the golf industry for our highly skilled and trained Certified Fitters at NorCal Golf Academy to find the best possible wedge make-up for your shortgame. Using a combination of 8 specific grinds and sole options; along with our proprietary zero-obstruction hosel adapter we can interchange over 30 shafts into each grind to determine your optimal wedge characteristics.
During the process our Certified Fitters at NorCal Golf Academy will make the following evaluations to make sure you will have the best possible custom-fit wedges to improve your game.
- Shaft Lean at impact
- Launch Angle
- Divot Pattern
- Desired Spin
- Complete set makeup
- Loft gaps
- Typical shot types
- Length and Lie
- Typical playing conditions
The fact is that trajectory and distance control are the two biggest scoring range challenges for golfers of all skill levels – from you to tour players. Our extensive testing on swing robots and with golfers of all skill levels prove those problems are caused by your wedge design itself.
In the TK wedges, our engineers re-distributed the mass more evenly across the back of the clubhead to fix these faults. So they deliver more penetrating trajectories on full swings, and the distance control on all shots that is so important to scoring range performance.
The TK wedges are easier to flight down, much more responsive to those “in-between” shots and near-magic around the greens.
The most versatile sole design in golf.
Turf conditions are never consistent. Neither are golf swings. Even tour pros’ divots are not always the same. And we all often change our swing path on purpose to hit different shots…So how could you ever expect one bounce to be right all the time? And how could you ever “fit” bounce at all?
At the heart of every Hogan TK wedge is the renowned V-SOLE® design. For each loft, we blend a high-bounce front section with a low-bounce main portion, so your TK wedges can handle any lie or shot you might face.
It’s really that simple.
Your lob wedge and gap wedge are as different as your 6-iron and hybrid.
Why should they look alike?
Your wedges have to be the most precisely engineered clubs in your bag. But while other wedge brands apply the same weighting design to all the lofts, we treated each wedge in your set with focused precision. In the TK wedges, as loft decreases from the lob wedge down to the pitching wedge, some of the mass is gradually redistributed more toward the heel and toe, and higher on the clubhead. This ensures optimum trajectories on full shots, and improved distance control anywhere. And those shots caught high on the face fly almost exactly like a well-struck shot.
Distance control is the real measure of a good wedge player. And it is built into the new Hogans.
Every wedge loft from 48 to 63 degrees.
Bending a wedge to something it wasn’t designed to be also compromises its bounce and offset. The ultimate commitment to the precision Mr. Hogan demanded drove us to build every loft from 48 to 63 degrees. So every golfer can put together the exact set of 3-4 wedges that will optimize their distance gapping in prime scoring range and blend to their iron lofts… whether those irons are Hogans or not.
We recommend starting your set of TK wedges with a true “pitching wedge” of 48-51 degrees. This is the club Mr. Hogan’s competitors dubbed “the Equalizer”, and it will quickly become one of your favorite “go to” clubs.
Isn’t this the part of the game where feel counts the most?
Mr. Hogan believed only a quality forging could deliver the feel and feedback crucial to a solid short game. And we concur. For these clubs, forging is just better. The new TK wedges are forged from 1025 carbon steel in a six step process that delivers extraordinary club-to-club consistency. They provide the ultimate performance and feel that Mr. Hogan demanded.
Each iron and wedge starts as an ingot of pure 1025 carbon steel and the bar is bent to begin taking shape as a ‘Hogan’. Then under a series of forming dies, the selected iron head begins to “morph” into a FT. WORTH iron or TK wedge. Each forging die implies a more precise shape, impress more detail and condense the grain of the metal. In reflection of the most modern forging technologies, the last die returns an iron head that is within 3-4% of its final weight and shape. It is now ready for the final polishing, face/groove milling, engraving and final detailing.
We read all the claims, too. Where’s the proof?
The fact is, all top companies push the USGA rules regarding groove geometry right to the limit. Some give their grooves names, and claim them better. But our testing with golfers of all skill levels proves that spin is more of a learned skill than a built-in feature. That said, Ben Hogan is committed to giving you every advantage allowed ‘by law’, so the Hogan TK wedges feature 100% CNC-milled faces and grooves to optimize your spin performance.
The rest is up to you.
The ‘disconnect’ between your irons and wedges is costing you strokes.
Your wedges are your prime scoring clubs. The ones you will call on more than any other clubs in your bag. Settling for off-the-rack lofts, shafts and specs makes no sense at all.Only Ben Hogan allows you to fully custom-fit your wedges… to you, to your game and to your irons. Regardless of what brand of irons you play.
Our complimentary HoganFit™ Personal Bag Mapping Analysis will show you how your wedges should be configured for optimum scoring.
